Canadian Universities Finances and Anti-Semitism et al;

Here’s some information on Canadian University finances;

What’s happening on University campuses regarding Anti ASemitism (and other demonstrations) is hateful,  a violation of human rights, and compromises the rights of all students ability able to learn in a safe a peaceful and nurturing environment.  Demonstrations should take place peacefully at designated places off campuses.

I realize the University campus et al is a place for minds and hearts to be ‘free’ to ideas. But that does not mean the freedom to express and proliferate hate, especially where the prime objective of receiving an education becomes compromised due to campus on-goings.

It would seem these activities would best be dealt with by those holding the ‘purse strings’….ultimately. the Federal Government. There are intermingled monies from the Municipal and Provincial governments that  go to Ottawa for re-distribution. This includes direct and indirect distribution of funds to Universities. Here’s a breakdown;

27% of operating budget for Universities in Ontario come from MTCU (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities )  from the Federal distribution.
11% of operating budget for University in Ontario come directly from the Federal Government
4% of operating budget for University in Ontario come from other Ministries
42% of operating budget for University in Ontario have been cleared through the Federal Government for distribution either  directly by the Federal Government, or via the Federal Government and the MTCU and other agencies.

Of the 38% Student Tuition;
30% of students received  Financial Aid (underwritten by government)
68%  of students received  loans (underwritten by government)

It would seem that as almost all monies  distributed are cleared  for distribution at the Federal Level,  so if things don’t work out satisfactorily at the campus level…… follow the money… and hold the Federal Government accountable.
